In Florida, a Private Villa Defines Its Character Through Clay-Inspired Porcelain Stoneware, from Indoors to the Pool Edge

In Biscayne Park, Florida, a newly built private residence makes surface continuity one of its most distinctive design features. Completed in 2025, the project features Prima by Ceramiche Caesar in the Ecru colour for interior floors, outdoor paving, bathroom wall coverings and the pool coping, creating a single material identity that seamlessly accompanies the transition from indoor living spaces to the outdoors.

This choice reflects Caesar's ongoing research into porcelain stoneware as a material for architecture. The Prima collection translates this vision into a surface inspired by clay and reinterpreted through a contemporary design language. In the Ecru shade—light, warm and softly powdery—it finds its most welcoming and residential expression.

Indoors, Ecru creates a bright and natural backdrop. Its soft tones enhance the perception of spacious, orderly interiors, while the collection's material inspiration introduces a tactile quality that makes the surface an integral part of the living experience. In the bathrooms, the transition from the horizontal floor to the vertical wall covering extends the ceramic surface into spaces dedicated to water and everyday wellbeing, where Prima's material character meets the functional requirements of humid environments while preserving its distinctive aesthetic identity.

The swimming pool area represents the most evident transition between architecture and outdoor living. The use of Prima Ecru for the pool coping integrates the pool edge into the villa's overall architectural character.

It is through this versatility that the project reveals the value of its ceramic specification and Caesar's ability to transform porcelain stoneware into a comprehensive architectural system. The same surface performs consistently across different settings and conditions of use—from interior living spaces to the pool edge exposed to water and the elements—while maintaining a strong and recognisable design identity. In this Biscayne Park residence, material becomes the common thread linking domestic intimacy with openness to the surrounding landscape.
