One victory and a special mention for Caesar in the “La Ceramica e il Progetto 2019” contest Caesar Ceramics USA, Tiles, slabs and technical solutions

03 July 2019

Two projects, two awards and one significant result: Caesar porcelain stoneware confirms its high quality and aesthetic standards, as well as its well-established and recognised “made in Italy” know-how.

The Fiorano Modenese firm takes centre stage with two creations in the “La Ceramica e il Progetto 2019” contest, arranged by Confindustria Ceramica and Cersaie for the eighth consecutive year with the aim of acknowledging the best architectonic references created in Italy with Made in Italy tiles.

The restructuring of the Elmas railway station in Sardinia, a project steered by architect Marco Tradori and by engineer Paolo Fadda, has been selected as the winner in the “Institutional” category thanks to the very high quality performance of its products and its ability to retain a strong aesthetic link with the local area, reflecting the warm tones of Sardinia in an elegant and contemporary way.

The work involved integrating the pre-existing building with new spaces dedicated to catering and commercial activity, encouraging social aggregation in a heavily-trafficked urban area that was nevertheless lacking in services. This architectonic development was carried out according to modern and functional criteria, without overlooking the environmental impact, also from an artistic standpoint. In this regard, the versatility typical of Caesar ceramics proved essential as, with its wide range of products, the company knew exactly how to offer the right solution, combining outstanding beauty, naturalness and functionality.

The station’s façade is clad with 30x120 cm porcelain stoneware from the More series. The alternating of three different natural tones – Nylus, Iridium, Lux - makes for a “pixel effect” that recalls that of the area’s typical sedimentary rock, deriving from loam and sediment in the nearby Santa Gilla basin and solidified with the passing of geological eras.

The same influence and series is also harnessed for the flooring of the station that, dressed in the colours of Nylus, in its 30x60 cm size, ensures a very appealing overall result that is both coherent and natural.

Important recognition has also been given to the Hotel CampZero project in Champoluc, (AO), Valle D’Aosta, which has received a special mention in the “Commercial” category. The hotel is in fact the first Active Luxury Resort for mountain lovers, where natural elements and an attention to detail come together in an extremely high-impact design that offers a unique and avant-garde experience. This is the project philosophy that guided the BLADIDEA architectural studio. In seeking materials with a simple style yet rich in energy, the studio found Caesar to be the ideal partner with which to elegantly and functionally clad the structure’s hall, rooms, bathrooms, pools, ski room, service spaces and much more besides, exploiting the vast range of looks and sizes offered by the made in Italy porcelain stoneware collections.

Two very important awards for Caesar, which has always believed in the value of porcelain stoneware, designed and produced to create increasingly complete solutions that can guarantee any type of project the right balance of functionality, aesthetic value and technology.

The prize-giving took place on 2 July at the Stazione Marittima in Salerno, following careful deliberation by the jury, which comprised architect Mario Cucinella, Professor Fulvio Irace, Aldo Colonetti and Cristina Faedi from Confindustria Ceramica.
